I am a 28-year-old toy designer from Richards Bay, currently operating in my studio situated in Durban, the heart of Kwa-Zulu Natal. With a background in Information Design from the University of Pretoria School of the Arts, I channel my creativity and technical skills in crafting toys that are not merely playthings but vessels of memory, emotion, and storytelling.
Kind Kid, my brainchild, is a toy company that bridges the gap between the past and the present. Founded as a tribute to one’s younger self, Kind Kid is where childhood dreams are reimagined and brought to life. Each toy is a piece of art, meticulously designed to evoke the wonder and innocence of youth, while also reflecting the complex narratives of growth and self-discovery.
The journey into toy design began with my work in animation, where I created short films and series that told stories of adventure and whimsy. This narrative driven approach is deeply embedded in my toy designs, where each piece tells a story, sparking the imagination of those who interact with it. The pieces are not just products; they are characters in a broader tale, inviting both children and adults to step into a world where creativity knows no bounds.
You’ll experience the magic of Kind Kid, where its unique vision transforms toys into timeless artifacts of joy and nostalgia. The work is a celebration of the simplicity of childhood, a reminder that the dreams of our youth are worth pursuing, and a testament to the power of imagination in shaping our world.
